Dr. Friedrich Buchberger

Prof. Dr. Friedrich Buchberger (borne 1949) is working as head of the departrnent of comparative education at Paedagogische Akademie des Bundes in Upper Austria (Linz) and at the institute of educational sciences at Karl Franzens University Graz. His specializations are (i) comparative education (teacher education), (ii) science of teaching and didactics, and (iii) methodology of higher education.

Improvement of curricula of teacher education in Europe.

Quality in teacher education and open distance learning and its use in teacher education.

Other Activities:

Since 1980 he is involved in many national and international (eg. Commission of the European Communities, OECD, Council of Europe) projects and has been project director of national as well as international research and development programmes. In his institute he is working as SOCRATES coordinator involved in multinational programmes (eg. curriculum development, open distance learningr) with more than 40 European universities.
